Baby discoveries are.... odd!

Most babies find their hands. It's one of the first fascinating things they find. Not our baby. Our baby found his sleeves! He has been looking at his sleeves since last night when I put him in this onesie. He is up on the changing table and watching his sleeves. What a nutty baby.

Given who his father is, I have to wonder if he is upset that I didn't iron his outfit for him first. ;-)

Hey, Marshall. Wanna hang out in my crib?

The boys had a nice afternoon together. Hanging out, sucking or licking on their hands (Marshall sucks, Joaquin licks), watching the mobile, shooting off some farts and then trading off who got to eat in the glider or get changed on the changing table.

Here are some photos from our Baby Get Together. Marshall is two weeks big and Joaquin is ten weeks enormous.

Marshall, how many photos do you think they are going to take?

Yeah. Let's put our hands in our mouths. Good idea!

I dare you to sneeze and fart at the same time.

I have a big head. I know!

How big is Marshall? SO BIG!

Look at that big boy.... And those eyes.

Be very still. There is a rattlesnake in my bed.

Hehehe.

Great Aunt Carol brought us a rattlesnake stuffed animal. It looks a little more like a python in the head. But it's very sweet and Joaquin already loves to follow it with his eyes. Here he is pretending he is NOT a rabbit at Grandma and Grandpa's house this afternoon.

I am not a rabbit. Please do not eat me!

I can pose with Mami....

On Monday we hung out with our friend Jen so we could catch up, play with the puppy Missy and Jen could take a few photos for a class project. Needless to say, Jen got the stinky side of the baby since we did a full diaper blow-out that required Joaquin to be bathed in her kitchen sink. I bet we don't get invited back until he is about 20. :-)

Here are a few of her photos. Aren't they cute!?

Mami and Babe...

Not sure who is weirder!

Photoshoots bore me.

Hmmmmmmmm.

Oh for Pete's Sake.

This is dull. I may just fall asleep.

Fine. I am asleep.

And he stayed this way for almost 3.5 hours, too! Jen is a miracle-worker with the napping! Thank you!

I am not a fruit!

It's about 5 degrees today. So what in the world are you supposed to do on days that are this freezing?!? Pretend like your baby is a fruit. Put him over the fruit bowl.

If you are the baby... you are SO bored of this game.

A Randomizer: In Photos.

Random photos I have taken and not posted. Let's call this the Photo Randomizer!

Joaquin has a friend and her name is Allie. She gave him a hug last Friday.

And then she smiled for us, too!

Someone is sleeping on Mami's side of the bed!

And someone is hogging the remote...

We call this the Monkey Branch. Joaquin is a Monkey on Papi's Branch. And he will suck and suck and suck on his knuckle in this position. He loves it!!

Monkey Branch on the Cat Post!

Professional Nappers

Lisa and David's Kiddo is here ...

So, yes. I am a week late posting about Joaquin's cousin's arrival. He was born last Saturday 8 weeks almost to the minute after Joaquin. Lisa and David have a big ol' baby boy on their hands. Like 9 lbs. 9 ozs. big. Ack!

Check out these snaps from his arrival last Saturday! Lisa looks incredible. She looks really YOUNG, too! Wow. Motherhood suits her already.

The Happy Family!

Two Months Old!

It's been two months.... yesterday!

Where in the world has the time gone? We have a two month old Big Boy on our hands now. Of course, I never took nice photos for his One Month birthday, so there is nothing to compare to... perhaps I won't screw this up for Three Months and we can have a nice little series of his first year.

We went to "work" yesterday so I could visit our friends at my previous agency. I freelanced there for the last 2 months of my pregnancy so they were kind enough to deal with Big Erica, so it was time to meet Big Joaquin. He did so well! For the first time out of the car he tolerated his car seat for a while on the stroller. And then I carried him around a bit, too. He ended up totally konking out after I fed him a bit. It was so nice to see everyone!

Hi! I am Two Months old now! I am almost as big as my Guacamaya puppet!

Mom! You need to figure out the settings on the camera fast. We look so yellow!

Ugh. Tummy Time. The most hated thing in his babyworld. He detests this but I got a full minute out of him yesterday. Which is well below what we should be doing but when it brings on screaming that causes choking, it's easy for me to "forget" to do it, you know? This worked pretty well. When I didn't have the camera in my hand the animals were singing and dancing for him.

Missing Milo.

It was a sad week last week. Our good kitty Milo passed away of a surprise heart condition. He had an emergency on Saturday and was rushed to the vet's where his heart condition was diagnosed. We tried drugs for a few days when he came home, but on Thursday the 3rd he passed a clot that paralyzed his back legs requiring us to put him and down and end his suffering.

I am so sad to lose such a great cat and companion. He really did know me and love me as much as a furry cat face can and no other kitty can replace the Milo personality.

Samui is mourning his loss, too. He went and spent a few days with Mom and Dad's kitties, but now that he is back home he is back to howling and searching. I don't know if it's Milo exactly he misses or simply the companionship and warm fur body in his cat bed. (Well, dog bed. Please don't tell him!)

This photo is the last we took of Milo. The silly guy jumped up on the counter on Wednesday night. Totally against the law (I know he did it anyway!), but he stayed when I came in the kitchen and pretty much asked not to be fussed at. So we let him stay and Douglas and I pet him for a while. I took a few photos of him having no idea it would be our last ones.

Milo was such a great guy. Douglas named him for me and for seven and a half years he was a wonderful friend. I am very sad that Joaquin won't grow up with this kitty. It's funny, I call Joaquin "Milo" each time he pees in a fresh diaper, since Milo loved to stalk the litter box when it was being cleaned and be the first guy in to take an immediate pee in the fresh litter. So, a little bit of Milo lives on, I guess. Heh.

I miss Milo. I hope he is enjoying The Scratching Post in the Sky. :-)

Joaquin gets to eat with his Papi

I am so behind! We have a lot of really cute photos to share, but I haven't gotten to posting them yet. It's been... well, busy. Things are going well, but I don't seem to have much time on the computer during the day. I check email and often reply from my Treo. God Bless The Smartphone! But I need to be on the laptop to edit photos and update the blog. So... we are really behind.

I need to pull all the Christmas photos off the good camera and post them. Perhaps one evening I can work on that while Douglas and Joaquin hang out and watch The History Channel. :-)

In the meantime, Joaquin got his second bottle this week. And this time, his papi got to feed him. We went over to Grandma and Grandpa's to see David's family in town for a visit and I brought some milk along with me. I still had to feed him the "old-fashioned" way later, but it was nice for a start to have a bottle with his daddy.

The first photo has lots of tears, because when he is hungry, he means it! He is hungry. And that brings on big cries and big tears. Joaquin was seven weeks old exactly in these photos.

By the second photo he wasn't as panicked since there was some milk in the belly!

And this is what happens when you put 3 ounces of milk in Joaquin's belly. Sleep! Pretty chunky looking baby in this photo, huh? I am anxious to see how much he weighs now. He was 10 pounds 2 ounces on December 20th. He feels SO heavy!
